Los Angeles-based musician Joseph Eid has been bringing his one man live show to venues around LA — including Room 5 and The Viper Room — since 2007. Named as one of the 100 Hottest Live Unsigned Artists of 2012 by Music Connection Magazine, Eid’s unique brand of Americana-folk has him sitting comfortably in the company of such artists as Ray Lamontagne and The Avett Brothers. Seamlessly blending rhythmic pop lyricism with traditional folk aesthetics, he evokes the rural landscapes of the Midwest and Southeast while also showcasing his impeccable pop instincts. Lush instrumentation and pastoral harmonies litter his songs and are peppered with intimate guitar work and his often aching vocals. Eid is set to give us a wider picture of his music when his debut LP, Human, is released on November 19th.
But before that, he’s given us a taste of the album with his latest single, “Ready Now,” a song that churns under the weight of its shuffling beat, bright swatches of orchestral strings, and Eid’s clear, confident voice. And now he’s given the track over to LA producer F3tto, and it’s gotten a complete dancefloor makeover. Removing the folk flourishes and sugar-spiked strings and replacing them with vibratory synths and pulsing beats, F3tto highlights the song’s original chorus by layering technicolor rhythms and saccharine melodies just underneath its surface. Eid’s vocals still stand out, but their cool confidence is expertly matched by F3tto’s sense of pop construction and his-swaying composition. If you want to compare the original with the remix, Eid is giving downloads of both away for free at his website.
Beats Per Minute is pleased to premiere F3tto’s remix of Joseph Eid’s recent single “Ready Now,” taken from Eid’s forthcoming album, Human.
