Thurston Moore’s last effort, Demolished Thoughts, was beautiful, if a little tame from a man we know can shred his guitar like no other, even now in his 50s. We might get to hear more of that famous guitar squall on his new project though; a band called Chelsea Light Moving that sees Moore team up with Samara Lubelski once again, although rather than violin this time she’ll be playing “deep psyche pop metal bass guitar.” Chelsea Light Moving also includes Hush Arbors’ Keith Wood playing “electric guitar with a pick forged from angel wing” and John “Pegasus” Maloney who “approaches the drums like an asteroid hurtling toward Earth.” It sure sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
The self-titled album, which was recorded in “two spurious sessions,” will see release through Matador Records on March 4th. The band will be touring the USA Touring US 2nd March – 7th April (full dates below) with a UK and Europe tour to follow.
