Speculation has been flying around for quite a while now about when Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace will finally release an album after they released their debut single “Default” recently. Yorke has taken to the Radiohead blog Dead Air Space to confirm the release of the album, which is called Amok and will come out on February 25/26 (UK/World) on XL Recordings.
In his post Yorke says
We formed to learn to play The Eraser record, if you don’t know that, and discovered a really good energy doing that.. and it fell into this record.
I’m still reeling from being on tour for much of the year but we are planning to get together and play etc next year !
We’re figuring all that out right now.Atoms is a ongoing and open ended project, where it leads i know not for certain …. which is what is nice about it.
Regarding the release date of the album, he also teasingly writes “It’s a while to wait i know so i’m sure some other things will occur before then,” so we can hope to hear something in the form of a b-side, a remix or maybe even one of the album’s tracks before the two and a half month wait for the album has elapsed – who knows?
Atoms For Peace have created a new website at atomsforpeace.info where you can admire the album’s artwork more fully, pre-order the album and hear a clip of new music from the band – although what exactly this song is we can’t be sure.
