Abel Tesfaye, the man better known as The Weeknd, came out of nowhere this year with his debut mixtape House of Balloons which has been receiving praise everywhere. (We were just one of the places to recommend it.) Normally after a new act drops their debut it can take a long time for them to follow it up, or at least the anticipation of what they’ll do next makes it feel like a long time. Not so for The Weeknd, who is promising two more mixtapes before 2011 is done!
The first of these is slated for summer time and will be called Thursdays. The second, entitled Echoes of Silence is set to drop in the fall.
The man is certainly productive, as news of him working on new material with Drake is also eking out of the north.
