The Zephyr Bones deliver a sudden rush of affection with “No One”, reveal new album plans

Barcelona-based band The Zephyr Bones have revealed they’ll release their second album, Neon Body, this October. While that still seems like some way off, they have given us a new single and video called “No One” that will help us while away the intervening months. Of the song, they say:

“‘No One’ surprises us in the same way that love does when it arrives: that instant connection, an instant match on the first listen. A feast of suggestive guitars and synths that encourages both dancing and humming to a magnetic chorus.”

A quicksilver track that glides on a buoyant bassline and glistening melodic interplay, “No One” is the sound of joy. While it’s easy to pigeonhole it as a dreampop track, there’s undoubtedly hints of psych, funk and Kraut all nestled in there, The Zephyr Bones blurring the lines with ease in this intoxicating track that shows growth in their sonic heft without losing their feathery lightness. The lyrics are few, with barely none needed beyond the central message: “no one feels like you,” as the song is pure feeling – a rush of affection and adoration brought on by the sight, smell and touch of someone who brings sunshine to your life. The Zephyr Bones capture the feeling of floating on air, with sparkling keys, tropical hand drums, shimmering synths and much more all contributing to create a song that feels like an endorphin rush.
