Earlier this year The Hold Steady’s frontman Craig Finn quietly revealed that he’d been working on a bunch of new things, but most interestingly he divulged that he’d be going solo in the near future (with new material from The Hold Steady to follow not far behind).

Today he has confirmed the release of his first solo 7″ single through Vagrant Records, which will feature two new songs. The A-side is called “Honolulu Blues” and for its b-side it will have a song called “Rented Room.” The 7″ will be released as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday on November 25th. The songs will also be released digitally on November 29th. You can see the cover art for the “Honolulu Blues” single below.

The press release tells us that we can expect “Honolulu Blues” to appear on Finn’s debut full-length, which should be arriving at some point in 2012. The album was made with Spoon/Trail of Dead producer Mike McCarthy, and features members of White Denim, The Heartless Bastards, Phosphorescent, and Centro-matic.
