The Gaslight Anthem are a rare band that can appeal to punk purists, teenage skaters, and hipsters alike, all while playing a brand of rock that is honest and direct. In short, The Gaslight Anthem have won fans by simply being themselves, and it appears they will have chance to win even more fans as they jump to Mercury Records.
The announcement the Brian Fallon and co. are leaving SideOneDummy, which released the band’s last two records, including the virtual classic The ’59 Sound, is being presented as an amicable separation, with the band promising a new release in 2012 that will be “their best yet.” And, though many thought their 2010 effort American Slang left something to be desired, there is nothing to cast doubt that The Gaslight Anthem has another great album in them.
