Eleanor Friedberger, half of the brother-sister duo The Fiery Furnaces, has always stood out, both with her signature vocal style and forward-thinking fashion sense. She was Zooey Deschanel before there was a Zooey Deschanel. But, after more than a decade of recording with her brother, she will go it alone with a new album for Merge Records.
Titled Last Summer, the album was birthed out of The Fiery Furnaces’ covers project Take Me Around Again. This saw Eleanor recording on her own for the first time, an experience that was positive enough to get her to record original works on her own. The album will be out on July 12th, via the consistently awesome Merge Records.
