Well, here is some disappointing news. As previously reported, a trailer for a second installment of The Black Keys’ hip hop project Blakroc surfaced a while back, resulting in a fair amount of excitement across the internet. Now, according to drummer Patrick Carney, the trailer appears to be bunk. Bummer.
As pointed out by Donewaiting (Via Pitchfork), Carney spoke about the unauthorized trailer by saying “Blakroc 2 is not coming out soon… there are no plans for that.” Apparently, they recorded “about eight songs” two years ago, but the album was never finished.
While this may disappoint fans of The Black Keys, note that their upcoming album that is produced by Danger Mouse is still in the works.
