Atlanta-based rising star TARYN has shared a video for her new single “Brand New”, a feel-good jam about embracing change. On the song, she says:
“There was a simple message I wanted to convey lyrically and the instrumental did the rest. I’ve carried my past around and let regrets fuel decisions without justification. ‘Brand New’ let me realize our past is not something we have to correct, but it helps us understand our growth. We’re here to learn, experience, and explore. It’s a gift to be vulnerable, to feel comfortable expressing experiences in sonically harmonious ways.”
We hear a lot of songs about how difficult life can be, especially in a moment of transition, so it’s an extremely welcome development to hear TARYN embracing the possibility of beginning again on “Brand New”. The upbeat tone is set by the finger snaps that introduce the song, giving it a lively and friendly feeling. TARYN’s pure voice builds on that vibe with the simple message “wash my mouth of all the little things / clean it out and begin again brand new.” From there, “Brand New” is off on a one-way trip to good times, the guitars and drums rippling with excitement that comes blossoming out in the harmony-filled chorus. It’s a simple song, but feeling thankful is a simple feeling – TARYN’s tapped into it and turned it into a piece of pure light and positivity on “Brand New”.
On the video for the song, she says: “I think the video does a beautiful job of conveying what the song represents: frequent change and the feeling of freedom in your own space, creating an environment for yourself that you’re comfortable with and that you’re proud to live in, that expresses who you are on the inside and out.”
