Belgian songwriter Sylvie Kreusch has released a couple of well-received EPs over the last couple of years, and she seems to be gearing up for her debut solo album later this year. While we don’t have any details on it yet, we have a fantastic new song and video called “Let It All Burn”.
It’s said to be about the dissolution of a relationship with a some kind of celebrity, but Sylvie’s not letting anything go except :“Certain incidents, characters and timelines may have been changed for dramatic purposes.”
You can understand why she would want to make that clear, because she doesn’t hold back in the song, throwing down accusations like “I’ve heard the noise of the girls that you’ve been screwing all along” and “She will get far being the actress in your movies.” Contrasting the burning passion in the words, “Let It All Burn” is a dreamy, tropicalia-tinged indie jam – perfectly sunny and primed for a lovely afternoon party. This combination of loquacious melodies and cutting vocals is a powerful one, and seems to suggest that Sylvie actually enjoys this kind of confrontation – just listen to the way she sings “just like the fuck up you are” and try to deny she’s not enjoying every damn syllable of this fight.
Adding to the passion is the video, shot on 16mm by Alessandro Cangelli. Watch it below or find “Let It All Burn” on streaming platforms.
