Swans tour to fund new live album, plan new studio album for next year

Swans are still riding high after last year’s My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope to the Sky, their first album for fourteen years, was received very well by fans and critics alike. They’ve been touring almost non-stop since, shattering eardrums the world over with their powerhouse live show. They’re not finished yet, as they have just added a final string of dates on which they will record their show, and use the proceeds made from the ticket sales to release a live album. They hope that the live album will be released around October. It will be Swans’ tenth (!) live release, but their first in over a decade and with the new lineup. Check for dates at the bottom.

Relationships within the band must be going pretty well because following that, Michael Gira and co. are going to work on more new studio material for a new album in 2012. Track titles confirmed for what will be Swans’ 12th studio album are “The Seer,” “Mother of the World,” and “A Piece of the Sky.”
