Los Angeles-based label Stones Throw has just announced work on a documentary helmed by director Jeff Broadway called Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton, which chronicles the label’s enigmatic founder, Peanut Butter Wolf, as well as exploring its left-of-center artists, history, culture, and global following. The production began in late 2010 when French company MediaTV sent Paris-based filmmakers Sébastien Bauer and Lucas Blaya to Los Angeles to begin filming events for the label’s 15th anniversary. The two amassed hours of footage and brought on Broadway to help shape the unfinished film.
Production is still underway and Broadway has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help finance the rest of the film’s costs.
