Stars release track list for The Five Ghosts, provide free stream until album drops

Canadian indie babies, Stars, were set to release a new album on the 22nd of June entitled The Five Ghosts but after a leakage scare, they decided to beat their anxious fans to the punch. Torquil Campbell, one of the frontmen of this band, went on the air with Rich Terfry (Buck 65) on CBC Radio 2’s The Drive to talk about the new album and to play some of the new tracks over the radio.

Each of the members in Stars are also members in Broken Social Scene (another Canadian indie band), and were once signed to their label called Arts & Crafts. The Five Ghosts will be released on the band’s new label Soft Revolution in Canada, and with Vagrant Records throughout the rest of the world. The band has released 12 albums in the past 10 years, (including this one), but it seems like The Five Ghosts could be one of their best. Bringing in heavy influences from the Smiths and New Order, the tracks (sung mostly by Amy Millan this time around) are not hard on the ears; the only song that I didn’t like as much as the rest of the album was “We Don’t Want Your Body.”

Can’t wait until the release date? You can hear it here on CBC’s website, until the album actually drops.
