Although there is no real solid or massively interesting news to report here, the promise of a new Spiritualized record is always a fairly big deal.
It was announced today that the band led by J Spaceman will release a new album (their seventh) this fall (or autumn as we call where Spiritualized and I come from). The news comes via the Domino Records site who are proud to announce that this new record will be released by their offshoot Double Six worldwide excluding North America. North Americans will receive the record courtesy of Fat Possum. This marks a move away from Universal subsidiary Sanctuary Records, who had released their last two.
If you happen to live near where Spiritualized or I come from, you may also be interested to know that they have announced a one-off date at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 11th. Considering that when I saw them play at the Royal Festival Hall in 2009 was one of the best (if not the best) gig I’ve ever been to, I’ll certainly be looking into this. Tickets go on sale this friday.
