Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown and myriad other bands most of which we probably don’t even know about, has announced the release of a new album under his Moonface moniker. This quickly follows up his first full length album with this name, Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped, which came out just last August.
The new album is called With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. The first half of the album title is in reference to the fact that Krug recorded the album with a Finnish band called Siinai (pictured above), that he met while touring with them with Wolf Parade in 2009. For those who haven’t heard them, their music is described as “progressive kraut rock.” Siinai took over most of the musical duties while Krug handled vocals and a few keyboards. So, it seems as though this album will have quite a different sound to Organ Music, and that proves true so far with the first song released called “Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips,” which you can download below.
The album’s second half is Heartbreaking Bravery because the theme of the album is heartbreak. The press release tells us “If there is a place that is beautiful only because it’s too dark to see whether or not ugliness exists, that’s where you’ll find these songs and their characters.”
The album comes out through Jagjaguwar on April 17th; below you’ll find the download/stream of “Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips,” then beneath that we have the track list and album cover.
