Dan Boekner, one of the two leaders of Wolf Parade, has already made his mark on today by unleashing the NSFW cover of his band Handsome Furs’ new album. Now his partner in leading the wolfpack, Spencer Krug, strikes back by announcing his first full-length album as Moonface. We already heard his Dreamland EP: Marimba and Shit-Drums last year, and now we get the equally strangely titled Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped. It seems to be a running theme for Krug as Moonface to use his album titles to comment on the instruments used.
Organ Music (as it will undoubtedly come to be known) is set for release on August 2nd via Jagjaguwar. To abbreviate a rather lengthy press release, Krug says Organ Music was an unintentional step away from the sound of the EP; he’d hoped to make something like it, but with vibraphone but somehow ended up switching to a double manual organ – hence the album title.
The album comprises of only five tracks, but runs to 37 minutes! That means an average of seven and a half minutes each. Hear the eight minute central track “Fast Peter” below and check out the tracklist.
