It’s that time of year when the festive songs start seeping into the limelight (Sufjan Stevens getting a head start, of course). And what better to tantalize you more than a compilation of festive songs full of a good few favourite artists. Holidays Rule gathers together tracks from The Shins, Paul McCartney, Andrew Bird, The Head & The Heart, Calexico, Eleanor Friedberger, Fruit Bats, and fun. (if you’re into that kind of thing). The compilation was produced by Chris Funk of The Decemberists and will be out in plenty of time for the season it’s celebrating: October 30th, on Hear Music/Concord Records. Check out a duet between Sharon Van Etten and Rufus Wainwright, performing an almost sultry, yet chilly version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” below, along with the full tracklisting and some snippets of everything on offer.
