A short while ago Red Hot Chili Peppers updated their website with the simple message “soon,” to put at ease those Chili Peppers fans who have long been craving a follow up to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.
Keeping that promise, they have this week revealed that the new album is called I’m With You and will see release on August 30th. Long time producer Rick Rubin has returned for this effort, which will be the Chili Peppers’ tenth.
This album does not feature guitarist John Frusciante, who has left to pursue his own projects. Taking his place is friend Josh Klinghoffer. This could mean quite a different sound for I’m With You, in relation to the last few Chili Peppers records, which have been very Frusciante-guided.
No details yet on a single, but it can’t be far off.
