Since the release of their eighth studio album, The King Of Limbs, Radiohead have made no indication that they will be going on tour any time soon. This is a big deal for a couple of reasons, other than the fact that they kick ass live and are always worth seeing, it’s well known that when Radiohead take their songs on tour they can morph into something quite different to the studio versions we know. This has been especially true with the more electronic ones, of which The King Of Limbs has a few.
According to the BBC Press Office “BBC Worldwide Music Television has signed a deal with Radiohead to distribute internationally a new and exclusive live performance of Radiohead’s eighth album, The King of Limbs.” The date set is July 1st, just under two months away.
The BBC is calling the program Radiohead – The King of Limbs: Live From The Basement, which will be a resurgence of long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich’s old television show From The Basement, which previously aired on Sky Arts in the UK. This time around it will air on the BBC and for those who live in other countries and are worried about whether they will be able to see it, the press release states that “BBC Worldwide has already received pre-sale offers for a number of major territories and expects to have a substantial network of broadcasters in place for its premiere.”
Radiohead – The King of Limbs: Live From The Basement will be 55 minutes long, allowing for the whole of The King Of Limbs to be performed and a little more. Extended versions? Old favourites? Who knows. We’ll find out on July 1st.
