Well, any speculation as to whether R.E.M.’s disbanding was spontaneous or pre-meditated went out the window with the announcement that the band will release a career spanning, definitive, 40-song greatest hits collection on November 15th. Titled Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 – 2011, the album will feature songs from both the IRS years and the Warner Brothers years, and will even included three new songs that were completed after the Collapse Into Now sessions, “A Month of Saturdays,” “We All Go Back To Where We Belong,” and “Hallelujah.”
We’ll get our first taste of the new songs on October 18th, when “We All Go Back To Where We Belong” is available for sale and will hit the radio. Until then, check out the tracklisting for the collection below and pre-order the album here.
