Pulse Emitter draws up the blueprints for a glitchy arboretum on “So Many Leaves”

Daryl Groetsch seems intent on unravelling the cosmic lattice that holds the whole universe together – and he’s doing it by creating and then dissecting a series of mesmerizing electronic soundscapes. His work as Pulse Emitter has found him veering between ambient minimalism and circuital bravado, bounding through glitchy atmospheres where the only thing holding everything in place is his determination in discovering new ways to express the sounds echoing in his head.

His latest album under that moniker is Tide Pools, a collection of transcendent electrical synthesis which exists to further his own wild experiments. The album documents a sequence of feral electronic visions, kaleidoscopic compositions that demand your attention while infiltrating your subconscious. His new single, “So Many Leaves”, is a puzzle box of whirling tonalities, squiggly arpeggios, and foreground percussive elements. It’s more direct than some of his past work, inviting active participation in working out its branching pathways and mesmeric melodies. It’s whirlpool of concentrated synth analysis and rhythmic hypotheses, one that sucks you in and drags you further into the tangled roots of his creativity.
