Primavera Sound, Europe’s premiere alternative music festival, held every year in Barcelona, Spain, will return from May 30 to June 3 2012, and judging from the first 6 names revealed to be playing the festival it will just as essential that you go as any other year, if not more so.
Firstly we have Jeff Mangum; the ex-Neutral Milk Hotel frontman has certainly come out of his shell this year, but not everyone will have had the chance to see him (and everyone wants to see him), so this is another chance. Bjork has not yet announced a proper tour in support of Biophilia, but she will be at Primavera Sound.
Additional to this, New Jersey pioneers Yo La Tengo will be there, hopefully playing in support of a yet-to-be-revealed new album. Codeine, the 90s slowcore band recently announced their reformation for ATP I’ll Be Your Mirror 2012 in London, and Primavera Sound is the second festival to snap up this act.
The initial lineup is completed by Neon Indian and Other Lives, who make up the first couplet of younger acts.
Tickets are only 160€ (+booking fee) until November 30, when the price will go up. There is already much more than enough to justify the price, and you can be sure there will be ten times as much as these 6 acts that will be worth seeing by the time the lineup is completed, so don’t sleep on it.
