Port O’Brien’s Van Pierszalowski goes solo; listen to a track

Port O’Brien are a band that were often unfairly overlooked. Their exuberant brand of folk-pop was simply a joy to listen to. It’s now been two years since they put out an album, and it seems it will be a while more because singer Van Pierszalowski (Van is his first name, it’s not a double barreled Dutch-origin surname thing) has decided to strike out on his own under the name WATERS (all caps intentional). Judging from the first track to be released “For The One” (which you can hear below) it seems Pierszalowski has been itching to get out some bugs for a while, as he fuzzes up the sound of Port O’Brien and purely rocks. The pop facets of his main band are still there though and the cathartic chorus is bound to get stuck in your head.

“For The One” is taken from WATERS’ debut album Out In The Light which will be released on September 12th courtesy of City Slang. The press release informs us that the album was written in Oslo, Norway and that the rest of Out In The Light will be just as intense as “For The One,” which certainly sounds like a great thing.

Check out “For The One” and the album tracklist below.
