On the heels of his Cindy Lee-assisted single, “Defense”, Panda Bear has shared a new song called “Ferry Lady”. It’s been over five years since his last solo record, 2019’s Buoys, but he’s looking to remedy that with the release of Sinister Grift at the end of February. And these two tracks paint a fascinating portrait of an artist reveling in the joy of creation.
“Ferry Lady” is a nebulous slice of pop psychedelia that feels comfortable sitting alongside his past work but possesses a mischievous sense of adaptation. He’s still breaking apart and rebuilding the ‘60s sunshine and psychedelic aesthetics, but his execution here has been refined, though it loses none of the ecstatic spontaneity we’ve come to expect from him. The song comes packaged with a video from director Danny Perez.

Sinister Grift is due out Feb 28 via Domino. You can pre-order the album here. Follow him on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
