Four years is an awfully long time to wait for a vinyl release. The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me‘s vinyl release was held off until this year primarily because of the band’s failure to secure the rights of Nicholas Prior’s photograph entitled “Untitled #44” from his “Age of Man” collection.
But the wait is over. The album has been released on double vinyl with different color variations: white (the standard edition, as seen below, limited to 3,000 copies), black and white marble (limited to 500 copies), red (limited to 500 copies), and gold (limited to 500 copies, and sold only on the band’s tour dates).
Verdict: The presentation is superb. Prior’s photograph, printed on a fine paper sleeve, is as breathtaking as ever at 12″ and is reason enough to own this release. Furthermore colored vinyl is always a plus, and although I probably would have preferred the black and marble pressing (the perfect combination considering the album’s title), the white variation certainly gets the job done.
As if you really needed another reason to buy The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me on vinyl…
