Oasis released their seventh studio album Dig Out Your Soul little more than a week ago but the follow-up is already written and demoed. According to Noel Gallagher, Oasis’ lead guitarist and main songwriter, he wrote their next album in the studio during the mixing of Dig Out Your Soul and he claims that the new songs are “sickeningly good”.
Gallagher mentioned two songs that would be on the album; “I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine” (of which a demo leaked in May 2008, and Noel describes as a “Champagne Supernova, Stairway To Heaven thing, which is amazing”) and “Come On It’s Alright”. Noel also mentioned that the album would be a concept album and references Neil Young’s Greendale while he says that the album will be “all songs about characters”. There was no mention of a release date but since the Gallagher’s will be out touring in support of Dig Out Your Soul it’s a safe bet that it will not be released for a while.
Oasis’ Dig Out Your Soul was released on the 6th of October in the United Kingdom and on the 7th in the United States. The band will tour the UK and The United States, with short stops in Europe, Mexico and Canada, between the 16th of October and 20th of December but are set to tour for no less than a year in support of the album.
