Billboard.com reports that Pearl Jam’s ninth studio album, rumored to be called Backspacer, is set to be released this fall exclusively through Target. The Seattle alt-rock vets’ 2006 self-titled disc ended their contract with Sony, leaving them free to find other routes for releasing new music. For their new album, due this Fall, they will be collaborating with a variety of types of retailers to sell the album. Target will represent the big-box retail store, with collaborations with a gaming company, a mobile network, and a string of independent record stores to be named. In other news, Pearl Jam will perform a new song on the premiere of The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien on NBC tonight.
