There’s been plenty of online susurrus and conjecture surrounding the release of elf-voiced folk star Joanna Newsom’s third long player lately. A few weeks ago, the album’s title, Have One On Me, was revealed through a peculiar cartoon posted on record label Drag City’s website, and “’81”, which is the only track definitely confirmed on the record, has been taken down from that same website after having been posted as a free stream yesterday.
Rumours that the new record would comprise three separate discs have now been confirmed. There are no other official details established as yet, but there is, of course, plenty of speculation as to what the track listing will eventually entail, especially given Newsom’s showcasing of new songs during her recent Australian tour. The following rumour has been posted on Milky Moon, a Joanna Newsom forum:
Disc One:
1 – Easy 06:04
2 – Have One On Me 11:02
3 – ’81 03:51
4 – Good Intentions Paving Company 07:02
5 – No Provenance 06:25
6 – Baby Birch 09:30
Total: 43:54
Disc Two:
1 – On A Good Day 01:48
2 – You And Me, Bess 07:12
3 – In California 08:41
4 – Jackrabbits 04:23
5 – Go Long 08:02
6 – Occident 05:31
Total: 35:37
Disc Three:
1 – Soft As Chalk 06:29
2 – Esme 07:56
3 – Autumn 08:01
4 – Ribbon Bows 06:10
5 – Kingfisher 09:11
6 – Does Not Suffice 06:44
Total: 42:31
Whether that’s true or not, we can’t say. To pass the time until more details emerge, watch the reasonably HQ footage below from Newsom’s show at the Sydney Opera House last week, which included a wealth of new material.
