One of the best things since sliced bread, the magazine Yeti edited by Mike McGonigal has their next issue ready to ship for October 14th. This would be issue number six, and like the past five issues, has been long worth the wait. On the official Yeti website, Mike promises to include interviews with such acts as Vivian Girls, Sic Alps and Times New Viking, along with in-depth essays on such indie luminaries as the influential New Zealand punk band The Clean and the weird-but-awesome Arizona trio Sun City Girls (whose members were brothers Alan and Sir Richard Bishop, and recently departed percussionist Charlie Gocher).
In addition to the writings, it will also include a compact disc that is rich with unreleased music such as demos of Vivian Girls, Sun City Girls, Eat Skull, Collections of Colonies of Bees, and many other acts.
Previous issues of Yeti have included interviews with Neko Case, Dan Bejar of Destroyer, William S. Burroughs (writer of Naked Lunch), and others. The compact discs in the past have featured unreleased and rare recordings of many artists and groups such as The Dead Science, 78s collected by Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Iron And Wine, Deerhoof, Mt. Eerie, and more.
Mike McGonigal has also written for Pitchfork Media, and authored the 33 1/3 book on My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless.
The sixth issue ships October 14th and is available for preordering via PayPal on the Yeti Publishing site for $11.95 (US/Canada) and $19.95 for orders overseas.
