A new documentary focusing on The Replacements is starting to make its rounds throughout the festival circuit and the like in the U.S. The film, titled Color Me Obsessed, was directed by Gorman Bechard, and focuses on the legacy of the Twin City post-punks through the eyes and words of both their well-known and lesser-known fans. Among other things, the documentary is becoming notable for its complete lack of music–namely any music from The Replacements being used within the film.
According to Pitchfork, the film will include The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, Titus Andronicus’ Patrick Stickles, Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan, and Hüsker Dü’s Grant Hart and Greg Norton, as well as music critics like Robert Christgau and Ira Robbins, and famous fans like Tom Arnold and George Wendt.
