Nala Sinephro’s subtle cosmic jazz permeates the skin on “Continuum 1”

London-based musical explorer Nala Sinephro is releasing a new album called Endlessness through Warp on 6 September and she has now shared the first song from it, “Continuum 1”.

The opening track on the forthcoming record, “Continuum 1” perfectly and gracefully introduces us to the journey Sinephro is going to take us on in Endlessness, which is said to be a “deep dive into the cycles of existence”. Sinephro’s subtly cosmic synths are the core of the track, their delicate interplay luring us in like a scent on a breeze that entices you deeper into memory – whether it be literal, physical or spiritual. She is joined by Morgan Simpson (black midi) on drums, whose unshowy but complex playing accentuates the inchoate melodies, while James Mollison (Ezra Collective) provides saxophone that skirts across the top, at times leading at others fading away – like the inner voice that arises with small snapshots of ideas and feelings then quiets down to mull for a while. The whole is a truly transportive experience into observing yourself – meditative and revealing.
