Van Pierszalowski, the former Port O’Brien frontman, releases his debut solo LP under the moniker WATERS today, titled Out In The Light. In celebration of this, the artist gave MTV a nice cover of the EMA breakthrough track “California,” originally released on this year’s Past Life Martyred Saints. Up-beat and muscular, the recording shifts many of the lyrical focuses of the song, leading up to an anthemic conclusion, where as the original uses its conclusion to ease out of the song’s tension. An enjoyable listen, to say the least.
