MP3: Trouble Books & Mark McGuire – “Song for Reinier Lucassen’s Sphinx”

It feels like the summer of ’98 again, as I’ve found myself falling in love with Mark McGuire. In both his work as a member of The Emeralds and solo, McGuire’s amazing talent on the guitar has garnered him well deserved attention as a master of the six string. In his newest fling, McGuire is teaming up with Akron husband and wife duo Trouble Books for an album due out this summer. The first look at the collaboration is “Song for Reinier Lucassen’s Sphinx,” a terrific blend of each artist’s talents. The delicate vocals of Linda Lejsovka sets the stage for McGuire’s guitar pacing, as the song layers synths upon synth and comes abruptly to a halt with the guitar fading to black. I’m really enjoying this first take, and look forward to hearing the album when it comes out on Bark and Hiss early this summer. [via]
