Tame Impala have been lighting up the blogs lately with their debut LP Innerspeaker. And for some reason, I was never really on board, always pushing the album aside and convincing myself I’d get to it later. But when I saw Pitchfork posted a Canyons remix of the lead single “Solitude of Bliss” I knew that I finally had to give some of the album a listen.
If you’re not hip to Canyons, no worries, as this remix is a subtle and effective edit of what was already a hook laden power pop hit. We actually reviewed the original track last week if you missed it. Like I said, Canyons took what was already a good single and toned it down just a bite, adding some hypnotizing guitar samples that float in and out of the remix, perfectly in tune with the waves crashing in the background during the four minutes. I can’t put it any simpler than this: If you’re looking for a relaxing song that is just catchy enough to bring you back time and again, check out this remix. And I also suggest checking out “Fire Eyes” by Canyons if you dig this track.
