Canadian trio Land of Talk hails from a long line of epic-leaning indie-rock acts that have emerged from Montreal’s fervent music scene, including the likes of the Arcade Fire, Stars, Islands, Plants and Animals and Wolf Parade (to name a few). However, Elizabeth Powell’s group most closely resonates with Toronto natives Broken Social Scene, as seen on their brand new track “Swift Coin.” Combining a swelling atmospheric aesthetic with a bit of driving guitar work in the likes of Dinosaur Jr., and Land of Talk’s new song gives plenty of reason to be excited for their second record Cloak and Cipher (out August 24th via Saddle Creek).
