Oakland, California psychedelic rock band Howlin Rain have announced the release of their third full-length, The Russian Wilds, which is scheduled for a release on Valentine’s Day, that’s February 14 if you somehow didn’t know that. The Russian Wilds is the follow-up to their 2008 record Magnificent Fiend and last year’s The Good Life EP and it sees Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless join the band as a full time member.
The Russian Wilds will be released on American Recordings and the band have already released a first track from the album as a teaser; the over seven minutes long and extremely cinematic “Phantom In The Valley”. It’s a good track (plus it even features some Spanish guitars) “Phantom In The Valley” and it’s a bit of an expansion of the band’s earlier psychedelic rock/Grateful Dead country rock sound.
