MP3: Escort – “Cocaine Blues”

It’s been more than a few years since we’ve heard from New York disco group Escort, and their newest single may have just earned them another four year hiatus. “Cocaine Blues” is an edit of Dillinger’s “Cocaine in My Brain,” a 1970’s reggae classic. But Escort’s updated version is a foray in disco and soul, a passionate love letter to the studio 54 era. “Cocaine Blues” is pure and unabated boogie, a style often characatured but very rarely perfected. Que the bongos, saxophone, sexy female vocals, and of course the iconic mirror ball and the live video will transport you to another era of music.

Escort recently did an interview with Riff City, which I also recommend if you’re interested in the band’s history and influences. The band is also asking that you join their mailing list to download “Cocaine Blues,” so the link below will take you there.
