I fell completely head-over-heels for Steel City duo 1,2,3 last year with their first demo “Confetti,” a booming glam-pop single that sounded like some crazy mix of Smith Westerns and Wavves. With a freshly minted deal on Frenchkiss Records in hand, 1,2,3 are set to release their debut album later this year. “Riding Coach” is the first single from the forthcoming effort, a more toned down effort than “Confetti” but it perfectly highlights the band’s pop sensibility. Glistening falsettos, hand claps, surf guitar solo, heavy synth sustains. “Riding Coach” might not be innovative per-say, but it certainly rocks.
