Rock The Bells, the nation’s premiere hip hop festival, has announced a joint partnership from promotors Gorilla Union and House Of Blues Entertainment for a series of tours that will bring a bit of the Rock The Bells lineup to more cities across the nation. Yeah, this was pretty “holy shit” news to wake up to.
In one tour, Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli) will cross the nation in a bizarre pattern to perform their landmark album, Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star. One look at their itinerary (in order: Houston, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Indianapolis) makes you realize that this kind of joint tour is something that Mos and Kweli have not done together in a very long time.
In a second tour, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon will perform the classic Only Built For A Cuban Linx, with support from fellow legend Mobb Deep in a performance of The Infamous. All the tour dates are below, once you pick your jaw up from off the ground.
And though as a consumer we are most interested in the tour, this is just the beginning from the partnership between Gorilla Union and HoB Entertainment, which plans “150 shows in 44 venues in over 30 markets with dozens of club and theater tours annually, including Rock The Bells, Paid Dues, Spring Gathering and Smokeout.” Yeah, this could reinvent live hip-hop as we know it. Good news for a Wednesday morning.
