Moogfest, the annual festival held in Asheville, North Carolina, is returning again this October with a stellar set of contemporary experimental acts. The festival aims to bring along as many artists who they believe hold the same experimental psyche as the players of Moog Synthesizers from all generations.
This year the big name that sticks out is The Flaming Lips, whose recent album Embryonic and the other tracks they’ve been releasing here and there certainly puts them down as at least a little avant-garde. Other acts include Battles, M83, Tim Hecker, Crystal Castles, Passion Pit, Austra, Gold Panda and plenty of others.
True experimental enthusiasts’ eyes will be caught by the inclusion of rock pioneers Tangerine Dream, who are playing Moogfest as their only American performance this year.
The dates of the festival are October 28-30th and tickets can be bought on the official website from Midday EST this Saturday June 4th.
