Yesterday we told you that EMI plans to reissue the bulk of The Smashing Pumpkins’ discography over the coming years, but before that they’re going to deliver us reissues of Paul McCartney’s two self titled albums from 1970 and 1980 on June 13th/14th (Europe/North America). These ones have quite a lot more to them, but that just means they’re definitely going to be hurting your wallet. The cost is dependent upon which of the many packages you decide to buy, though.
McCartney himself has overseen the remastering of these two albums and the collecting up of all the additional materials that are going into them. The collector’s deluxe edition of McCartney comes with 2 CDs, a DVD of rare and unseen footage and a 128-page booklet of photos by McCartney and his wife Linda as well as “original album artwork, downloadable hi-res audio versions of the remastered album and bonus audio tracks, an illustrated history of the making of the album, and expanded track by track information for the two audio discs as well as detailed historical information on the film content.”
McCartney II gets expanded even further into 3 CDs, as well as a DVD and a 128-book that boast the same things as those that come with McCartney.
If you don’t feel like splashing out for those versions then there will be simpler 2 CD versions of both, 2x180gm audiophile versions, as well as digital downloads.
