The ineffable Luke Perry is set to release two mind warping and brain draining cassettes into the wild this summer. The first is GUTS, a split release by Luke Perry and Twins, a collaboration of minds so unique that they could only produce something described as “all woven quilt-like so you don’t know if it’s John Travolta’s face on Nicholas Cage’s body or Nicholas Cage’s face on Nicholas Cage’s body.” You can pick up the tape over at Peace Age right now for a mere $5.
The other release is out soon on El Tule (though you can buy them directly from Perry now), called Brainwave’s Rerun Crunch. Also, the artwork above is for this tape. A couple of tracks from this album leaked a few months back, one of which being “Street Galaxy,” a cut that instantly became one of my favorite jams this year. It’s sort of hard describing just what Luke Perry sounds like, but if you were to combine a Tim and Eric show with late ’80’s Hollywood awkwardness you might just end up with Brainwave’s Rerun Crunch.
MP3: Luke Perry – “Street Galaxy”
At just five bucks a pop, I highly suggest grabbing either of these ridiculously weird and fun tapes. That, or at least do yourself a favor by hearing “Street Galaxy” for free.
