Brandishing thick, viscous beats and scorched synths, That Was Then This Is Now manage to evade simple categorization quite easily. Bringing together fuzzed-out synth scientists Blvck Ceiling and vocal experimentalist Moon Mirror, That Was Then This Is Now’s collaborative self-titled record plays out like some dark wave synth implosion, all frayed edges and chest rattling beats.
