Led by Montreal-based cellist Rebecca Foon (Esmerine, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and Set Fire To Flames), Saltland is the latest musical acquisition for Constellation Records. Tying together threads of drone, dream-pop, and no-wave, Foon and accomplice Jamie Thompson layer lush, composite landscapes over effortlessly plucked and bowed cello lines. Working with champion indie mixer Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire), the first single “ICA” from Saltland’s debut album I Thought It Was Us But It Was All Of Us–which is out May 14th–feels full without being bloated and immediate without suffering from an abundance of overly glossy fidelity.
