Recent Secretly Canadian signees Nightlands have just released a new song from their upcoming debut which is due out in February. “I Fell In Love With A Feeling” combines buoyant horns and evaporating synths with lyrics like “why are you always fucked up at the end of the day” and “you can always trade needs for a pill or a line” that undermine its superficial musical levity. The song becomes a candy-coated accusation, as well as a cry for help from someone watching it all unfold but unable to effect any real change. The song’s short duration and ambiguous narrative lend it a stunted, though oddly luxuriant, feel that works well for its deceptively casual facade.
