Mikal Cronin’s sophomore album MCII is set to be released on May 7th via Merge Records, and Cronin has just released a new track from from the album, the churning deceptively innocuous rocker “Weight.” Starting out with simple acoustic guitar and inconspicuous accompaniment, Cronin quickly burns through the subtly and engages the amps, throwing off enough fuzz to make J Mascis proud. He’ll play one show at the Indiana University Culture Shock Festival before releasing the record and setting off on the official support tour, where he’ll share the bill with fellow garage rockers Shannon and the Clams. Listen to “Weight” below and check out his tour dates below the stream.
