LCD Soundsystem may be done but there are still a few bits to come out of the ashes. One interesting release in a huge list of interesting releases set for Record Store Day this saturday is a 5-track EP of Franz Ferdinand covers by various artists, the most high profile of which is LCD Soundsystem.
James Murphy and co. have decided to tackle “Live Alone” which appears on Franz Ferdinand’s third album Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. They’ve made it darker than the original, and twice as long too. By the end of the squelching seven minutes Murphy seems painfully in denial of his fate of living alone, delivering the repeated “I’ll never live alone” in an impassioned way that only he can.
