Lapland began in the Brooklyn bedroom of musician John Mease in early 2011. He set down the base sounds for what would later become his debut under his Lapland moniker. Blending folk musings with subtle electronic flourishes, Mease used whatever was within his reach to pour out his musical urges, rarely relying on any other musicians beside himself. This self-imposed isolation carries over into the music, which deals with themes of loss and intimate introspection. Mease has just released a new track “Where Did It Go?” from his upcoming debut, and you can stream it below.
