Vancouver-based lo-fi pop collective Katie and the Lichen are getting ready to release their sixth album of eclectic autoharp and ukulele augmented indie pop. Â Yours Truly is set to come out May 18th on Lost Sound Tapes, with a vinyl release soon thereafter. The band, coming off of a 2011/2012 tour with K Records founder Calvin Johnson, is gearing for another round of touring across Canada and the US with fellow Vancouver residents ok vancouver ok. Â If you heard over to the band’s Bandcamp page, you can hear three songs from Yours Truly about a month early. Â Among them is “Wasteland,” a memorably lo-fi chunk of pop precision which shows that the band has a knack for understanding the mechanics of shimmering melodies and deceptively simple instrumentation.
